The Down Parade

This is a dance for 12 people, in two sets of 6. Attributed to the Iron Men side.

1, 3 and 5 should be men, 2,4 and 6 should be ladies.

1 faces 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6. The other 6 similarly placed, the two sets parallel to each other. Each set operates identically but independently until the last move, when they join up in a big circle of all 12 dancers.

DANCE ON 8 steps on, holding hands with partner.
4 steps dropping into lines (2 sets).
4 steps turning in a circle, casting outwards in each set.
HEY (CHORUS) In lines of 3 – 12 steps for the complete hey:
1 + 2 casting out, 3 + 4 going in, 5 + 6 two steps on spot, and then hey through the line of 3 and back to position, then
4 steps turning in a circle, casting outwards in each set.
CROSS OVER Men – 4 steps across the set to end up behind ladies, passing right shoulder.
Ladies – stand still for first 4 steps.
Men - step for 4 whilst ladies step across to men’s position - 4 steps.
Both - 2 steps to meet right shoulders in middle of set.
2 steps to circle each other, 2 steps back to partner's place, 2 steps turn to face each other.
Repeat – Ladies go first, Men stand still for first 4 steps.
HEY (CHORUS)
STAR MEN'S STAR (Ladies stand still)
4 steps to form left hand wrist star – grab on 4
8 steps turning, 4 steps back to place
LADIES STAR (Men stand still)
Repeat as for men.
HEY (CHORUS)
LEAD OFF

MEN (Ladies stand still)
No. 1 - 4 steps, turning out and dancing up outside of line.
No. 3 - joins on step 5 and follows.
No. 5 – joins on step 9.
Dance round back of ladies to opposite lady – 4 steps backing into place.
LADIES (Men stand still)
Repeat as for men but in order – 6, 4, then 2.

HEY (CHORUS)
GRAND HEY 4 steps into long line down centre of set,facing partner.
18 steps – Grand Hey.
2 steps - on spot.
4 steps - Men dance round ladies and hold hands (ladies step on spot).
4 steps – on spot.
CHORUS No chorus at this point, the Grand Hey leads directly into :
CIRCLE 4 steps to form a large circle, facing out with all 12 dancers holding hands.
12 steps – dance round clockwise finishing with right leg kicked into air.
